Pokémon Go is happy to announce that the game has added the Trade Evolution mechanic from the core Pokémon games. In addition, more Pokémon are arriving to the game that benefit from Trade Evolutions.
In the franchise, evolution is the process that lets Pokémon take on new forms. This can be activated in different ways. One of these is by reaching a certain level, or if you use a certain item. Then there’s also trading. With the Trade Evolution mechanic, Trainers can trade eligible Pokémon in order to lower the Candy cost needed to evolve them. That means it may be possible to trade some Pokémon to the point that they won't need Candy to evolve.
The next question is which Pokémon gets Evolution benefits from trading? Well, some of these are:
- Kadabra
- Machoke
- Graveler
- Haunter
For those who managed to get one of these Pokémon in a trade in the past, here's some good news. That Pokémon retroactively qualifies its no Candy cost when you evolve it.
That's not all as Pokémon originally discovered in the Unova region also benefit from Trade Evolution. These are:
- Boldore
- Gurdurr
- Karrablast
- Shelmet
Remember Trainers, Boldore’s and Gurdurr’s evolutions can be powerful Pokémon to have in battle parties.
