A new crossover event is launching soon in Pokémon GO, and it's going to be with Pokémon TCG. The crossover event is from June 16 to 30, which sees the official debut of Wimpod and Golisopod to the game. It also serves as the official arrival of Pikachu wearing a Pokémon TCG hat, so be sure to keep an eye out for them.
The crossover event is to celebrate the upcoming Pokémon GO expansion to Pokémon TCG. This expansion is going to feature Pokémon GO-themed cards.
The Mystery Box
Trainers have a chance to catch Meltan during the event. The key is the Mystery Box, which they can get by sending a Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME. Trainers can also get the box by sending a Pokémon to two Nintendo Switch titles Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!
The Mystery Box has to be used during the event and those lucky enough can even encounter a Shiny version.
Collection Challenges
There are also Collection Challenges happening during the crossover event, themed around Pokémon featured in the Pokémon TCG: Pokémon GO expansion.
A total of six Collection Challenges will be available from June 16 to 30 and each comes with varying levels of difficulty. That means some are more difficult than others. Those who can complete all challenges receive rewards like XP, a Lure Module, and an Incubator. There's an encounter with Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Meltan as well.
There's also another set of three Collection Challenges from June 23 to 30. Finishing them all rewards additional encounters with Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise.
Other Featured Pokémon
There are also other Pokémon making their presence felt during the event. Lunatone and Solrock, in particular, will appear in the wild for the duration of the event. Once the event ends, Lunatone is set to appear in the Western Hemisphere while Solrock in the Eastern Hemisphere.
