The Pokémon Go Plus wearable device was slated to release at the end of July but Nintendo has announced on Twitter that the bluetooth device will not be in stores until September.
An exact date for the Pokémon Go Plus was not given but we will update as soon as we learn more.
While no reason was given, the delay for the Pokémon Go Plus can probably be attributed to to simply not being ready for its slated release date.
The Pokémon Go Plus device was supposed to allow players to play the addicting mobile game without having the app open on their phone. Using LED and vibrations, the device will notify players when they are near a PokeStop or a Pokémon.
By pressing the button on the device, players can search the PokéStop for items. If you find any items, swipe or tap them to add them to your inventory. This suggests you still need to have the app open to take the items but we’ll know more once the device is released.
It’ll also allow players to throw PokeBalls by simply pressing the button when a Pokémon appears. This will hopefully make catching Pokémon a lot easier (no more curveballs), but again it seems you’ll still need to have the app open.
It should also be noted that this method will only work on Pokémon you’ve already captured so if it’s a brand new Pokémon, you’ll have to catch it the old-fashioned way.
