In case you haven’t heard, a new Pokémon game is coming out at the end of the month. The new Pokémon Snap is coming to Nintendo Switch on April 30. This game has players travel to islands to take photos of different Pokémon and come up with their own Photodex.
To celebrate the release, Pokémon GO is launching a new event for all Trainers to enjoy. It’s going to see many Pokémon from the Lental region along with a new avatar item. There’s a new Pokémon making an official debut in this mobile game.
This new event starts on April 29 and lasts until May 2. Features include:
- Pokémon inspired by the deserts, jungles, and underwater landscapes of the Lental region, like Lotad, Cacnea, and Ducklett, appear more often in the wild.
- Smeargle appears in snapshots more often than usual. Trainers lucky enough may have the chance to encounter a Shiny Smeargle.
- Smeargle only appears in snapshots a limited number of times.
- Shiny Smeargle no longer appears after the event concludes but Trainers may encounter one during future events.
- Pokémon inspired by the Lental region, like Vaporeon, Meganium, and Trapinch, appear more often in raids.
- Look forward to event-exclusive Field Research and Timed Research focused on taking snapshots.
- A camera avatar item and a camera-themed Gift sticker are going to be available in the shop during the event.
- The new Gift sticker is also going to be available from PokéStops.

April Events
This special event appears to be a good way to end April's activities. For example, we’re actually in the middle of Rivals’ Week which ends this Sunday. There are also two Spotlight Hours left that should continue to excite players everywhere.
Next week, we'll see the start of two events in the game. There’s Sustainability Week as well where Trainers not only get to play but also help make the world a better place. In the midst of that, a limited-time Friendship Day event will happen on April 24. Prepare to meet some grass-type Pokémon on that day.
What about you? Enjoying the April events so far?
