Pokémon Go revealed that for the September Community Day, the featured Pokémon is going to be none other than Porygon. Porygon beat out Charmander, Caterpie, and Grimer in a poll on developer Niantic's Twitter account. The Community Day itself is scheduled for September 20 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, local time.
For those interested in joining, here are some features of this month’s community day:

Items to Evolve Porygon
In order to evolve Porygon to Porygon 2, and Porygon2 to Porygon-Z, Trainers are going to need some items. They can get their hands on these items in three different ways.
The first is that for the week of September 11 to September 17, there's going to be a Mega Battle where Trainers can earn an Upgrade. In the same week, there's also going to be a Timed Research that rewards a Sinnoh Stone by completing it.
The second way to get evolve items is on the Community Day itself on September 20. By completing Timed Research Tasks, Trainers can earn as many as three Upgrades and three Sinnoh Stones
Finally, the third way is to join the Decoding Porygon Special Research story. Completing this one earns Trainers an Upgrade and a Sinnoh Store. However, a ticket is needed to be able to join this activity.
