Pokémon GO’s first global event of the year is just around the corner. The Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto Event is happening on February 20 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Everyone can enjoy several activities during the event, which is divided between ticketed and non-ticketed experience.
There's one interesting feature of the event that may likely challenge Trainers, particularly those who’ve been grinding. It’s the Collection Challenges, of which 10 are available.
Finding Pokémon
Five of the Collection Challenges are a bit tricky. Basically, it’s going to be based on how Trainers find and collect Pokémon . These are:
- Red (Trade) or Red (Incense)
- Green (Trade) or Green (Incense)
- Raid
- Research
- Evolve
Now you’ll notice that there’s a Red or Green version. The Kanto Tour has Trainers choose which version they get to play and there’s no going back once a choice is made. You can read more about these two versions, and even the Kanto Tour event here.
Going back to the Collection Challenge, that means Trainers need to have friends that choose the version. For example, if they chose the Red version, then they need to trade with a friend who had the Green version to complete the challenge. Like we said, tricky.
Location Challenges
The other five challenges are inspired mainly by the locations of the original games. The challenges are divided into five location-themed hour blocks. Pokémon that corresponds to the challenge will appear in the wild. The schedules are:
- 9:00 am to 10:00 am: Pallet Town
- 10:00 am to 11:00 am: Pewter City
- 11:00 am to 12:00 pm: Cerulean City
- 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm: Fuchsia City
- 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm: Pokémon League
- 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm: Pallet Town
- 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm: Pewter City
- 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm: Cerulean City
- 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm: Fuchsia City
- 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm: Pokémon League
- 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm: Pokémon from all previous hours
To make the game experience memorable, for each hour music inspired by the original game and curated by Pokémon original OST composer Junichi Masuda will play.
While the Kanto Tour event lasts only a day, the Collection Challenges are available until February 28 at 7:59 PM local time.
So what do you think? Are you up for the challenge?
