It was early last year when Team GO Rocket made its presence felt in Pokémon GO. However, it wasn’t as simple as that since they went as far as taking over the GO Fest Weekly Challenge. But next month, it looks like Trainers need to be on the lookout because Team GO Rocket appears to be celebrating and the question is for what reason.
Make room in your schedule for the Team GO Rocket Celebration event starting February 2 until February 7. For this event, the bonus is Half Egg Hatch Distance when an Egg is placed inside an Incubator.
So, what’s going to happen with this new event? According to stories going around, Team GO Rocket Grunts are planning to turn some Pokémon into Shadow Pokémon. These include, among others:
- Swinub
- Nosepass
- Aron
- Spheal
- Lileep
- Anorith
That’s not all as Trainers can expect Team GO Rocket Grunts to have different teams of Pokémon during the event and even after. Moving up the rank, those who manage to beat Team GO Rocket Leaders during the event have the chance to get a Team GO Rocket Leader Gift sticker.

Like most events, there’s also Event-exclusive Field Research and Timed Research available for Trainers. The Timed Research, in particular, will be Team GO Rocket-themed and to start during the Johto Celebration event. The reward for finishing this is an encounter with the Legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh, one with the Earthquake attack.
