Early this month, Pokémon GO brought Trainers around the world to the Kalos Region. This is a part of the ongoing celebration as the game counts down to its upcoming new global event, Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto. That’s right! This new event is bringing everyone back to where everything started.

With Trainers done with Kalos, the next region to visit is Unova. This event starts January 5, 2021, at 10:00 AM (local time) and ends January 10, 2021, at 8:00 PM (local time).
Before we go into the details, there’s going to be Collection Challenges, which is a new feature in the game’s Today View. More information will be revealed sometime in early January. That said, here are the event's details:
- These Pokémon are going to appear frequently in the wild:
- Snivy
- Get a chance to encounter a shiny version.
- Tepig
- Oshawott
- Lillipup
- Herdier
- Blitzle
- Roggenrola
- Drilbur
- Scraggy
- Tympole

- Snivy
- These Pokémon are going to hatching from 5 km Eggs:

- These Pokémon are going to appear in raids:
- One-Star Raids
- Snivy
- Tepig
- Oshawott
- Timburr

- Amoonguss
- Five-Star Raids
- Prepare to encounter Genesect holding a Burn Drive.
- This is the first time this form of Genesect appears in Pokémon GO.
- A shiny form is not going to be available during the event.

- Mega Charizard Y
- This Pokémon is going to get more powerful starting January 5 until January 12.

That’s not all. There are also event-exclusive Field Research tasks. These will reward Stardust and a chance to encounter Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, and Ferroseed.
January Events
The arrival to Unova isn’t the only event in January 2021. Pokémon GO has actually revealed the plans for January. Like any monthly events, there’s the Pokémon Spotlight Hours scheduled every Tuesday. It’s going to highlight a certain Pokémon and different rewards.
There are the usual Raids, of course, and a Research Breakthrough encounter.
