Fans waiting for the POSTAL Redux release date need wait no more as Running With Scissors has announced the game will be available on Steam on May 20. A PS4 version has also been confirmed but, unfortunately, it has not received a release date beyond a vague Q4 2016. Better news for fans is the inclusion of a new gameplay mode called Rampage. From the press release:
The outrageous single-player game play mode rewards an aggressive style of play by increasing a multiplier for each consecutive kill in a streak. Players will receive a score and letter grade following the completion of each level. Rampage Mode will incentivize gamers to replay levels using different strategies to increase their score.
For the uninitiated, POSTAL isn’t just some game. It was a lightning rod for controversy in the “violent video games will ruin society” heyday of the late 90s. The gameplay centers around a deranged gunman who mercilessly mows down crazed cops for points. POSTAL Redux updates the graphics but keeps the core gameplay the same:
The May 20 release of POSTAL Redux will also feature some new maps, including a carnival stage with a big ol’ ferris wheel. A new final level has also been added to the game. No details on what the level entails but it’s doubtful the POSTAL Dude drops his guns and switches to a hug-based form of psychotic expression.
POSTAL Redux launches May 20 on Steam, with a Mac version and PS4 version planned for release later this year.
