Bethesda has attempted to mix the mundane with creepy in their upcoming title Prey. It’s like Groundhog Day in space. Just bear with us, we’ll explain the madness, or at least try to.
In the latest Prey trailer, you’ll find a few mundane items like a tea kettle, coffee cup, picture frame, etc. Your character will be able to “mimic” objects around them in order to hide from aliens. We don’t know how they acquire this ability, but it’s not exactly a rare talent in outer space.
See, these spider-looking aliens called “Mimics” can also disguise themselves as different objects. You could be attacked by a banana! Think of if like a possession, but less painful...we think.
Check out the trailer below to see the Mimic Madness in Prey .
The basic premise of Prey is you’re a researcher on a space station who’s forced to relive the same day over and over again. It appears someone is trying to keep you from learning their secrets. Your character has discovered something they shouldn’t have, and it’s up to you to figure out how to get out of the loop.
Each time you relive the loop, you’ll find some new detail you’ve missed before. Maybe it’ll be some correspondence or a recording. It’s up to you uncover the secrets hiding in the space station. iDigitalTimes recently played the first hour of Prey . Check out our first impressions here.
Prey will be released to PS4, Xbox One and PC on May 5.
