Nyck Caution hasn't dropped a formal mixtape since The Pursuit Vol. 1, but The Pro Era member released 3 solid tracks for his birthday that prove he's ready to move up the ranks. The surprise EP dubbed 22 is a collab with Metro Boomin on the production end. While the mini project has features from Joey Bada$$, Dyemond Lewis and Denzel Curry, Nyck carries the heat solo even though the Badmon himself comes through with the assist on “What’s Understood.”
Caution tweeted he's “Not playin this year” and after his verses over Travis Scott’s “Oh My Dis Side,” which he calls “Light Through The Cracks,” it’s clear he’s not kidding.
“Oh My” is so hot, there’s even a GIF circulating Twitter.
“Nyctophilia” is the most low-key of the three tracks, but still Nyck still manages to spit a verse packed full of lyrical intricacies.
Nyck Caution may be one of the best slept on rappers in Pro Era. He released “Church” (rumored to be part of his next project) on Jan. 7 and the music video already boasts 100,000 views on YouTube. He also showed off his chops on the same day on Shade 45 Showoff Radio with Statik Selektah. Nyck Caution goes off to Notorious B.I.G.’s “Dead Wrong.” If you have any hesitations about the young Brooklyn rappers potential, peep this freestyle. His natural talent is also displayed in “Proceed with Caution Freestyle” featuring Statik Selektah released a month ago.
He clarified on Twitter this latest release, 22, is not part of his highly anticipated mixtape.
Nyck Caution hasn’t been shy to release a few singles and hop on more than a few Pro Era records. But after bangin' to this latest release, followers are going to want more. And they’ll get it soon enough.
Possibly called Disguise The Limit?
Caution also raps "Disguise the limit, coming real, real soon" at the end of "Light Through The Cracks." After Nyck tweeted "coming sooner than you think" and Joey says "debut project dropping next month," maybe it won't be very long until Pro Era drops another game-changing record. From CJ Fly to Kirk Knight to Dessy Hinds, the hip hop collective has stayed consistent with impeccable production and thoughtful verses that prove the young Brooklyn crew is ready to take over the conscious rap space.
