Jon Bernthal stepped out looking a bit rough in Brooklyn in preparation for Netflix’s The Punisher series.
Just Jared tweeted an image of a bearded Bernthal on Oct. 3 ready to reprise his role as Frank Castle. Bernthal recently had to cancel appearances at New York Comic Con 2016 due to a scheduling conflict with the series’ production. Netflix had yet to confirm The Punisher would begin filming in 2016, so the news came as a surprise to many. Check out more images of Bernthal on the set from Just Jared.
Netflix has also announced the official release date of its latest Marvel series, Iron Fist. Game of Thrones actor Finn Jones stepped into the new role of Danny Rand, another superhero hanging around the streets of New York. Marvel will introduce Rand to the world on March 17, 2017.
Both The Punisher and Iron Fist have big shoes to fill after the success of Luke Cage . It’s possible Luke Cage caused Netflix to go offline for two and a half hours on Saturday, Oct. 1, though the streaming service has yet to confirm the cause of the outage or give official viewing statistics for the show’s premiere.
Netflix and Marvel will eventually have the shows crossover in the series The Defenders, where fans will get to see Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist team up to take down the bad guys of NYC.
