The latest update for Ubisoft’s alien first-person shooter game Rainbow Six Extraction is now available. This update introduces three new Archæan variants that are sure to provide a more challenging experience. The patch also brings some adjustments and bug fixes.
New Enemy Variants
The new Archæan variants are more difficult to deal with than their regular counterparts. The Feral Grunt is a gnarlier version of the standard Grunt. It moves faster, can jump higher, and possesses the ability to jump off walls. Using stun or glue grenades can help you slow down its advance.
The Smoker is another Grunt variant that can detonate itself, leaving a cloud of smoke that not only damages you but also affects your visibility. You can use Lion’s EE-ONE-D drone to help you locate Smokers through the haze and eliminate them before they come close. Make sure to aim at their throats to dispatch them quickly.
And lastly, the Storm Spiker is a deadlier version of the standard Spiker. It can hurl high-damaging projectiles with homing capabilities, so you should take advantage of your surroundings and take cover. You can shoot the spikes before they hit you. Alternatively, you can deploy a field wall so that the projectiles will crash into it instead.
Aside from the new variants, there are new parasite mutations that will test you and your squad’s mettle. You can learn more about them here.
