Ubisoft North America finally revealed the two new operators for Rainbow Six Siege’s Operation Steel Wave. The new attacker is Ace and the added defender is Melusi. Ubisoft also released a detailed guide on how to use them along with a look at the new House rework and a new secondary gadget.
The new attacking operator, Ace, is a hard breacher who will probably replace Hibana in the near future. Ace’s S.E.L.M.A gadget is a canister that uses small explosions to breach walls, which can be interrupted by the defenders. A single canister makes a really huge hole in the wall allowing you to have more vision into the bomb site and even open it with ease if uninterrupted.
The new operator on defence is named Melusi. She is an intel gathering operator like Lesion. Melusi’s gadget, banshee, can be deployed anywhere on the wall or floor like a proximity mine, and when enemies get into the gadget’s radius it starts to hum aggressively. The banshee also has an additional quirk to slow down enemies and it can be destroyed easily.
Both of the new operators will be using existing weapons such as the AK-12 and T-5 SMG.
The new season will also bring a new addition to secondary gadgets. Ubisoft is bringing in a new proximity alarm for some defenders. This alarm will alert the defenders when attackers are in line of sight with the proximity alarm. The sound can distract enemies, causing them to panic.
The new reworked House map will still remain a casual map and will not be brought into competitive or ranked. The size of the map is a bit bigger than before, and comes with two new bomb sites for the defenders. The map will be hard to learn if you have been playing since launch, with extra windows and new hallways that you will have to re-learn. You can watch the full House reveal trailer on YouTube.
Rainbow Six Siege is available to play on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
