The Six Invitational 2021 Europe Finals between G2 Esports and Virtus.Pro has concluded. The matches were played in a best of three series. While the match wouldn’t affect the standing in S.I., the winner would get a trophy and prize money.
The first map of the series was Clubhouse. The Ace ban from G2 was mainly to stop V.P from opening the site and hatches, however, it also means V.P would have to use Thermite instead. Thermite is a pretty good operator but his breaching charge can be countered easily using Bandit. Plus, Thermite’s gun isn’t as good as Ace’s primary weapon.
Ben "CTZN" McMillan and Jake "Virtue" Grannan played really well for G2. Virtue and CTZN were the only ones who got frags till Round 3 as the rest of the team were sitting on zero kills. Virtue is the best support/flex player and he proved it by finishing the game playing operators like Echo and getting 12 kills. G2 won the first map with a 7-2 scoreline.
The second map was Kafe Dostoyevsky. G2 opted to use Montagne for two rounds, which didn’t work out well as V.P was able to counter them. Then, G2 realized their mistake and choose Hibana instead that helped them take the first half with a 2-4 scoreline. G2 on the defense didn’t faze their momentum and were able to take the map to overtime.
CTZN stood out for G2 with 17 kills by the end of the game and took the victory over V.P with an 8-7 scoreline.
