Rainbow Six Siege European League Stage 2 is almost halfway done. The top four teams from this region will qualify for the Six August 2021 Major, which is held in Mexico. The European league is currently being played online due to COVID-19 restrictions. However, the North American league is being played on LAN.
All matches are in a single round-robin league format with overtime enabled. This means every team will have to face each other in the tournament. A win guarantees the team three points, overtime wins give two points, overtime loss gives the team one point, and regular loss gives the team zero points. This system makes games interesting, but teams can only prove their worth in best-of-three matches.
The prize pool for this league is 50,000 Euros. The first team that secures first place gets EU 15,000. The following teams also get prizes but lower than the top team. However, both the ninth and tenth placers will not get winnings and have to face relegations.
Currently, BDS Esport, Natus Vincere, and G2 Esports sit on top of the leaderboards with three wins each. Though BDS does have a round advantage, which puts them in a higher position on the leaderboard.
Following them in fourth, fifth, and sixth positions are Team Empire, Virtus.Pro, and Team Secret with two wins each. That means they can’t slack off or they will lose their spot for the Six Major.
Team Vitality and Cowana Gaming are placed seventh and eighth on the leaderboards with one win each. They would have to win every upcoming game and hope for the top teams to lose if they want to qualify for the upcoming major.
The teams at ninth and tenth positions are unKnights and Rogue. The teams who place last at the end of the European League Stage 2 will have to go through relegations against challenger leagues to keep their spot in future leagues.
