It’s time to pop that bottle of champagne and celebrate 25 years of Resident Evil. Since its first release, the franchise has shipped at least 107 million units and introduced many things in the horror game genre, particularly its iconic characters.
In the same year as the series celebrates this excellent milestone, a new addition to the franchise is arriving on May 7, 2021, Resident Evil Village. There’s also going to be a Resident Evil Showcase digital event in April, which will reveal more details about the new game along with anniversary-related news. The exact time and day are to be revealed at a later date.
As if that’s not enough, an open beta test is scheduled in April for Resident Evil Re:Verse.
Re:Verse
So what’s Resident Evil Re:Verse all about? Players begin the game as human characters that hunt each other and collect virus vials scattered all throughout the map. Once the vials are taken out, they bring up bioweapons. The more vials a player collects, the stronger their bioweapon is.
In a post, Capcom said that this game is free for those who bought Resident Evil Village. The company also confirmed the open beta test scheduled from April 7 to April 10. This is available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, and all open beta participants need a registered Capcom ID to play.
