We know about all we’re likely to know about the release date for Rick and Morty Season 3. It didn’t hit co-creator Dan Harmon’s ambitious 2016 premiere goal. All the rumors are bullshit. The most likely premiere date is April 2 or April 9, but that’s just our guess based on a statement from someone who doesn’t exist. We’ll know the Rick and Morty Season 3 release date when Adult Swim announces it and not before.
And yet people persist in haranguing anyone involved with Rick and Morty, as if just one more “why aren’t you working on Season 3 right now?” tweet will convince the animators to draw faster. But while co-creator Justin Roiland maintains an unshakably positive online persona, Harmon’s getting a little sick of it. Bug him and you’re 100% more likely to be called a dickhead or gigantic asshole than you are to get handed the keys to the secret Rick and Morty Season 3 screening room:
Predictably, rather than feeling bad for pestering their favorite show’s creator, many are proud of being an object of Harmon’s ire. Perhaps they missed what Harmon told another harassing fan:
“You’re about to express the idea that this level of attention indicates that you… accomplished something. And I encourage to really bite into that thought and chew it many times. So that you get the important center, which is: even your own specialness needed to be provided by someone else.”
Maybe being a jerk to the person whose art you desperately want more of isn’t the best way to go about this? Season 3 is coming. Just wait it out with the rest of us.
