Rocket League comes to Xbox One next month and to celebrate the arrival of 2015’s surprise smash hit Psyonix has teamed with Insomniac to bring exclusive items from Sunset Overdrive into the game. This news comes from a message sent by Marcus Smith, the Creative Director for Sunset Overdrive.
Psyonix wanted to have some Xbox One exclusive game content in Rocket League for the highly-anticipated launch. When Psyonix approached Sunset Overdrive developer Insomniac to see if they could include any themed items from Sunset City the Insomniac team agreed and told the Rocket League crew they felt incredibly honored.
“Since this is Oscar season, I’ll go so far as to say it was an honor even being considered,” said Smith. “But seeing what they did with the Overcharge Rocket Boost was especially thrilling.”
The attention to detail was what really impressed Smith. “The Overcharge bubbles look and sound great. When the booster is activated, you can hear the firing mechanism from the Ahab gun in Sunset,” Smith said. “It’s so good! Hats off to our friends at Psyonix. They did a hell of a job.”
No formal release date has been confirmed for Rocket League on Xbox One. We do know it will be coming some time during February, however. Rocket League is already available to play on PS4 and PC.
