It’s time to lace up those skates and see if you have the skill to make it in Roller Champions. This free-to-play game is now available on PC through the Ubisoft Store, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It’s also available on next-gen consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S through backward compatibility.
Roller Champions is a team-based sports game where players need to use gravity-fueled movement, high-flying maneuvers, and of course, team tactics. The objective is to move the ball around the arena, open the goal, and take the shot.
Gameplay
In the game, all players have access to the same moves. But a team can get the advantage with proper communication and coordination between its members. As matches are played, players earn fans, which are the ones that influence fame. Higher fame opens access to larger arenas.
Roller Pass
There is also the Roller Pass, which allows players to unlock new cosmetic items as they progress. These include outfits, gloves, helmets, and skates. There are also player banners and goal effects. The Roller Pass offers a lot, especially when it comes to skater customization. Those who want to grab their hands on even more rewards can buy the premium track.
Crossplay
Roller Champions has two modes: Quick Play and Ranked Matchmaking. Because of crossplay, players get matched with opponents regardless of platform. There’s also cross-progression which should be good news to those who want their progress and items to continue even if they play on a different platform.
Players can also try custom matches, and for those who want to practice their skills, the free-roam environment is the Skatepark.
Friend Referral
In a game about being the best team, it’s better to play with friends. The good news is that there is a Friend Referral program where players can recruit friends to join them in the arena. In return, they receive in-game rewards for free.
In addition to the platforms already mentioned, Roller Champions is planned to be launched on Nintendo Switch, Stadia, and Amazon Luna, but no actual date has been announced.
