UFC 4 is now available for everyone who wants to create their own (virtual) MMA legacy. Along with the expanded single-player campaign, there are new ways to play multiplayer with the new Blitz Battles and Online World Championships modes, giving players a chance to become the undisputed champion of the Octagon. UFC 4 is offered for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
In the game, players can choose between various modes and different ways to play. The Career Mode, for example, offers an enhanced experience as players start to climb through the MMA ranks. This mode comes with an all-new fighter evolution system where each choice is important in shaping the skills of fighters.
While the Blitz Battles are a way for players to be a world champion, the Online World Championships is a way to become one of the best. There are also going to be four all-new environments that honor both fictional and historical styles of combat sports like The Backyard and The Kumite.
Once inside the Octagon, players can see, hear, and feel the impact of each blow as they try to put their opponents on the canvas. There are also new high impact moments and face-rippling replays. Making the game even more exciting is the use of EA Sports Real Player Motion Tech, which overhauls the art of the clinch as well as being able to deliver more dynamic takedowns. There are also the new submissions and an overhauled approach to ground and pound that ensures each fight is more thrilling than ever. Other features include the grapple assist which allows for more accessible controls on the ground. Meanwhile, the refined striking control scheme lets players get better access when it comes to positioning and combinations.
In a press statement, UFC 4 Creative Director Brian Hayes said that for this new game they wanted to develop authentic MMA gameplay for the fans. He went on to say that “from the updates to the clinch game and takedown mechanics, to the new dynamic striking inputs and grapple assist controls, we’re delivering a deeper and more accessible gameplay experience for fans at all levels.” Hayes added that they also came up with a new progression system that focuses “on the Created Fighter that rewards players for every fight through the new Connected Fighter Profile to showcase their fighter’s personality and achievements.”
UFC 4 is rated T and is available for $59.99 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
