Scandal Season 6 will premiere Jan. 26 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC and delve right into the results of the election taking place in Olivia Pope’s Washington in the first 10 minutes of the episode.
With the first episodes of Season 6 having been filmed ahead of the actual 2016 election, Scandal’s results are not influenced by the real-world results. However, fans believe that Scandal star Kerry Washington has dropped some hints as to who lost the presidential election between Mellie Grant and Francisco Vargas.
"We shot the episodes way before the real election... but it will be hard to believe that we didn't know about our election," Washington said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Tuesday. With Hillary Clinton having lost the real life 2016 presidential election last November, many believe this is a hint that Mellie Grant lost the election on Scandal.
Throughout the season viewers can expect several flashbacks and flash-forwards and Fitz being more influential in his post-presidential life. Season 6 will also air the 100th episode of the series.
Scandal Season 6 was supposed to air Jan. 19. However the show’s premiere has been pushed back to air the pre-inaugural special, 20/20 America’s First Family: Trumps Go to Washington. Scandal will now premiere Jan. 26 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC. Grey's Anatomy and How To Get Away With Murder will also air Jan. 26.
Scandal Season 6 will have 16 episodes and was already delayed from its fall premiere due to Kerry Washington’s pregnancy. Reports indicate the season will be fast-paced and contain heavier story lines.
