Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster announced its launch, May 25. The game will be released on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. This is a modernized version of the initial game released way back in 2003.
The remastered version has been rolled out in Japan already, however, it was limited to PS4 and Switch.
Players will experience modern-day Tokyo and follow a high school student in the game. One day, the world undergoes what’s known as the Conception, which is an ethereal apocalypse. Tokyo itself has been transformed into a world filled with demons while the main character has become a Demi-fiend, a being with demonic powers and the heart of a human.
When the game was first launched, the reviews were mainly positive with many citing their good gameplay experience. Other reviews also cited the challenging AI and the combat system.
One interesting feature of the original version was the Battle System, which offers a turn-based mechanic called the “Press Turn” system. Basically, the system has a rule that any action is usually a one-full turn. Then, there’s the demon negotiation where players can invite new demons to join them and even fight with them.
Compared to the original, the remastered version now includes:
- Remastered 3D models and backgrounds.
- Additional difficulty settings for players of all skill levels.
- Suspend save. You can now save their progress whenever you need.
- Voiced audio. You can now choose between English and Japanese.
- An alternate branch featuring Raidou Kuzunoha.
