The Sims 4 laundry stuff pack, officially titled Laundry Day from last week’s vote, still needs an icon. Voting is now live on The Sims website and it’s your last chance to give input for the fan-created DLC, so get to it! Your options are above. Voting ends Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. PST.

Players and fans have had a hand in creating this The Sims 4 stuff pack from start to finish. The initial theme vote took place back in April between Dangerous Stuff, Wedding Stuff, Arcade Stuff, Starter Home Stuff, and last but not least, Eco Living Stuff, which won the vote. The whole point was to give players a look inside the development process. Because of the extremely vocal community, The Sims has gotten better and better over the years about communicating even the smallest of details with players. The Laundry Day DLC is undoubtedly a show of appreciation to a community that has often complained stuff packs aren’t worth the money.

Now if Laundry Day is deemed not good enough, it’s nobody's fault but the fans. We got to choose between over 100 objects and Create-A-Sim items. The developers and designers visualized two different pack art styles to choose from. There has been a lot of effort put into this journey. As far as the icon goes, SimGuruGraham explained how this process usually works. If you visit the blog post, he even breaks down how the icon for Backyard Stuff was chosen.

“Production and marketing share ideas back and forth, only this time with clip art examples to get the ball rolling. Once we have suggestions on what could visually represent the pack, we hand those ideas off to a brand design agency who takes each idea and develops it into an icon for consideration.”

SimGuruGraham also explained fans will receive consistent updates regarding the DLC after the voting ends. And while the DLC won’t release until early 2018, the next milestone for the creative team is Oct. 6.

“As development on The Sims 4 Laundry Day Stuff proceeds, we’re seeing more gameplay take shape. Once we entered production, the next major date in our development schedule is set for October 6th, which is our Alpha submission milestone. An alpha milestone is defined as the pack being ‘feature complete’ (a.k.a. every piece of functionality detailed in the design has been implemented in-game).

“To help us move forward, the first thing we did was get an initial gameplay prototype running within a week of entering production. This allowed us to see Sims generating piles of clothes when changing outfits, and then being able to take those clothes to a hamper, from a hamper to a washer, and from a washer to the dryer in-game. Essentially, we can complete a full gameplay loop, and start to get a sense for how the features will play in-game. Although that core functionality in place, there’s still a whole lot of work left to implement to fully realize the entire laundry system.”

Make sure to get your final vote in before Sept. 15. What do you think of the The Sims 4 Laundry Day features so far? Let us know in the comments.
