UPDATE: It's real! Skate 3 is now officially Backward Compatible on Xbox One. And for a limited time, some DLC is available for free if you don't already have it. Rejoyce!
Microsoft has teased Skate 3 being included in the Backward Compatibility program for quite some time now, and we still aren’t pulling off sweet kickflips in Port Carverton on our Xbox Ones. Time to add more fuel to the rumor fire, because it seems like an announcement is coming soon.
As spotted by reddit user SanitaryGecko, Skate 3 is advertised prominently on the Xbox 360 dashboard as being Backward Compatible. Additionally, DLC for the game is currently listed as free, something that has happened in the past with games that have gone Backward Compatible.
If Skate 3 is coming to Backward Compatibility, it would be another game added to the list of EA Xbox 360 games coming to the service over the past few days. Recently, EA has added both Mass Effect 2 and 3, games that were previously held back thanks to an issue with multi-disc games and Backward Compatibility.
What will this mean for Skate 4? Probably not much. EA could be using this as a way to see how much interest there still is in the franchise, but it seems more like a way to try to make fans happy without too much investment. That being said, if there’s an overwhelming amount of gamers to flock to Skate 3 again, it could turn some heads at EA.
Anyway, nothing is official yet until it comes from Microsoft or EA. If you want the most up-to-date information on Backward Compatibility games, following Major Nelson on Twitter is one of your best bets. He seems to be the one at Microsoft making most of those announcements.
So what do you think? Is EA going to be announcing Skate 3 for Backward Compatibility soon? Do you want to see a Skate 4? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
