Bethesda's Todd Howard won’t confirm which version of Skyrim will be released on the Switch, and we don’t understand why it’s a secret.
Howard recently commented on Skyrim coming to Nintendo Switch during an interview with Polygon. He told the publication he “can’t say whether the original Skyrim or the 2015 remaster will be released.”
So. Many. Questions. Can the Switch not handle the remastered version? Did Bethesda have to sacrifice graphics to port the game on the Switch? Not that Skyrim doesn’t have its faults graphically, but hey, it still looks pretty awesome on current-gen consoles.
Skyrim is also a huge game, which might be an issue for the Switch. There’s only 32GB of space in the console’s hard drive, which is nothing nowadays. Of course, you don’t have to download Skyrim onto your console as you’ll be able to store your gameplay on the cartridge like you don the 3DS.
Whatever the case may be, we are excited at the concept of taking Skyrim on the go. It’s still an incredibly popular game despite it being almost 6 years old.
"I don't know how it happened," Howard told Polygon regarding Skyrim ’s popularity and success. “We could feel it when it crossed over to being referenced on television or other places. It's nothing we could ever plan for. It just kind of happened. Certain things came together. People's mood, timing, vibe, marketing, all of it. But it happened very quickly, almost as soon as the game was out."
