If you’ve experienced “muddy” audio while playing Skyrim Special Edition, you are not alone. Reddit is filled with complaints regarding sound quality inconsistencies while playing the game.
Skyrim Special Edition launched on Oct. 28 and it’s every bit as magical as we remembered it to be. However, Skyrim has never been immune to strange glitches and bugs. The most common issue expressed on reddit has to do with the sound. One reddit user went into detail about his issues stating:
“I launched the Special Edition last night and began playing, but something about the audio seemed... off to me. I couldn’t tell whether or not it was a placebo effect since I was going out of my way to analyse everything that could possibly have changed in the SE , but I couldn’t help but notice that the audio seemed... muddier. Less crisp.”
You can read the reddit user’s for post about his gripe with audio here. Fortunately, Bethesda is aware of the problem and actively working on repairing the bug. Matt Grandstaff, Bethesda’s global community lead, stated on reddit, “We’re currently testing a fix and hope to have an update out next week.”
There have also been complaints about some Skyrim mods not working on the Special Edition for PC. Todd Howard, game director at Bethesda Game Studios, explained to iDigitalTimes players must be patient with the modding community as they have to re-export your favorite mods to its new mod system.
“It's a new mod system, but its similar. The modders will have to download the new creation kit that works with Skyrim Special Edition. It's 64-bit,” Howard told iDigitalTimes. “The ones that have the good mods and are involved with the community, they'll download the new 64 bit editor and make sure the new mods work. They'll have to re-export them for the audience playing Skyrim Special Edition.”
