All eyes are on Capcom for the next "Resident Evil" remake, but new reports are now claiming that "Resident Evil 5" will not be part of the equation.
The latest scoop on the possibility of a "Resident Evil 5's" remake claims that it is not currently under development by the renowned Japanese gaming company as the company has other priorities.
This also comes at a time when Capcom is expected to continue the franchise's mainline releases, particularly as the world awaits the next game, "Resident Evil 9," to continue where "Village" left off.

Capcom is all about remaking their previous "Resident Evil" games, but the company is not intent on recreating all the games immediately for modern gaming platforms, as per the latest reports.
According to a leaker known as AestheticGamer or Dusk Golem, Capcom has a lot of projects planned for the future of the "Resident Evil" franchise, but there is one game that is not a priority for a remake, and that is "Resident Evil 5."
The leaker revealed that Capcom is currently not developing the "Resident Evil 5" remake as of writing but did not reveal any reasons as to why the company is opting to skip this specific game for now.
It is important to note that there are many more "Resident Evil" games that await their remakes from Capcom, but the company has since focused on following the mainline releases for its previous remakes.
In a separate post, AestheticGamer revealed that it is being speculated that Capcom will focus on other games, particularly with a mix of one mainline release and two other remakes, which does not include the fifth game's remake.
The leaker expects that Capcom will first focus on developing "Resident Evil 9" as a mainline release meant for 2026 and then follow it up with "Resident Evil Zero" for 2027 and then "Resident Evil: Code Veronica" by 2028.
Capcom to Focus on Other Projects, But Why?
As noted by ComicBook Gaming, all three games mentioned above are known to be single-player games in the "Resident Evil" franchise, and the company may be opting to remake these types of "RE" titles first. So far, all of the games that Capcom remade for modern consoles from the "Resident Evil" franchise are all solo-player games, and "Resident Evil 5" is known to deviate from that.
"RE5" is the first game in the franchise to focus on a co-op experience in the series, and this would take a significant amount of time and effort for Capcom to pull off a remake for.
The good news is that AestheticGamer does not believe that Capcom is entirely skipping "Resident Evil 5" from its list of titles to be remade, but it is not a priority for the company at the moment.
