SpongeBob’s Idle Adventures is now available worldwide on Android through Google Play and iOS via the Apple App Store. The game has SpongeBob and friends go on an adventure across dimensions.
The story starts with SpongeBob and Patrick playing with Sandy’s Vortex Machine, because why not right? Obviously, trouble ensues. Usually, the duo's shenanigans involve themselves. But this time they’re truly in a pickle as the whole Bikini Bottom got involved.
As a result, SpongeBob and the gang use the vortex machine to find a way to return to Bikini Bottom. Along the way, they meet alternate versions of themselves.
Features of the game are:
- Collect!
- Gather your favorite characters from the hit Nickelodeon TV show.
- Automate!
- Assign managers to run the Krusty Krab, the Chum Bucket, and other iconic Bikini Bottom locations.
- Level up!
- Earn ranks to help SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, and the gang rebuild Sandy's Vortex Machine.
- Dive into Dimensions!
- Alternate universes and dimensions introduce all-new versions of characters everyone knows and loves.
In a statement, Director of Product at Kongregate Jorge González Ezquerra shared that the game has been an exciting project for them. Ezquerra said that they have a long experience when it comes to idle games and knows what players expect from the genre. He went on to say that with this new game, they’re offering the world of idle to a new segment of players.
Other SpongeBob Games
SpongeBob's Idle Adventure was first announced back in June of this year. It’s not the first SpongeBob game to be released this year. Surprisingly there have been quite a few.
Early this year, for example, fans saw the release of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated. This was first released on PC and consoles but this version was launched on mobile. While it is for a new platform, the basic gameplay remains the same.
A few months after that, Spongebob: Krusty Cook-Off became available on Nintendo Switch. It was sort of a “reverse” compared to the previous one. That’s because it started as a mobile game before being ported to the Switch. There is, however, no cross-play. In this game, players take control of the kitchen and cook and serve delicious meals.
