SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off is cooking its way to a new platform, the Nintendo Switch. The game was first launched on mobile devices in 2020 and since then has received more than 35 million downloads. It also gained the “Users Choice Game of 2020” award from Google Play.
Even before the game was launched on mobile, the excitement was high with at least 17 million pre-registrations, which is considered as the highest pre-registration yet for a Nickelodeon game. When it was launched, it became the top 10 most downloaded games in 79 countries on Google Play and 97 countries on App Store.
SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off though won’t be available in all countries due to limited release in Brazil, Canada, Mexico, and the US. It’s going to be launched in Asia and Europe in the coming weeks. The game is priced at $29.99.
In the game, players get to cook and serve delicious nautical meals. They get to interact with many characters of the series including Patrick, Mr. Krabs, Sandy, and Squidward. Players can even visit many landmarks like Sandy’s Treedome and, of course, the Krusty Krab. Players can collect and customize outfits of characters and even design and upgrade their own versions of Bikini Bottom’s restaurants.
For the new platform, the Switch is offering the exclusive “Extra Krusty Edition” that features four unique cooking powers, challenges, and extra downloadable content.
In a statement, Tilting Point co-CEO and President Samir Agili said that they have been happy working with Nickelodeon and are excited for players to experience a new way to play on Switch. This is the first game to come from the studio offered for Switch. Agili continued that with this launch, they have managed to prove that it can offer games on a new platform.
Tilting Points is known for games like Zombieland: AFK Survival, Star Trek Timelines, and Warhammer: Chaos & Conquest. SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off is the second game released as a result of the studio's partnership with Nukebox Studios. The first one was Food Truck Chef.
