Star Wars Battlefront 2 has a new game mode made for large-scale conflicts. Called Capital Supremacy, the game mode features a 20-on-20 battle set during the Clone Wars. Capital Supremacy will launch on March 26.
A match of Capital Supremacy has a number of different phases. The game starts out with both teams on a planet, fighting for control of five different Command Posts. With each Command Post your team captures, you are rewarded with reinforcements. Once one team captures enough Command Posts, that team is transported up to the opposing team’s Capital Ship.
Once on the Capital Ship, players enter into a 12-on-12 battle with AI opponents. Players need to set multiple charges at strategic points on the ship, but there is a time limit. If the charges are set in time, the Capital Ship explodes and the team planting charges wins. If the charges aren’t planted in time, the fight returns to the planet’s surface.
Because the game mode is set during the Clone Wars, only a select number of heroes are available to use when playing Capital Supremacy. It was also mentioned that this game mode is the perfect opportunity to try the two new reinforcements: the ARC Trooper and the BX-series Commando Droid. The list of included heroes for Capital Supremacy is as follows:
Light Side Heroes
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Anakin Skywalker
Yoda
Chewbacca
Dark Side Heroes
General Grievous
Count Dooku
Darth Maul
Bossk
At launch, Capital Supremacy will only support one map on Geonosis. While that may sound like a familiar location, developer DICE mentioned the map has been changed to specifically support Capital Supremacy. It does not resemble the Geonosis map used for the Galactic Assault and Heroes vs Villains game modes.
Capital Supremacy was originally revealed at the EA Play event in 2018. Delays have pushed the release of Capital Supremacy back to the March 26 release date we have now.
