Star Wars Battlefront continues to be updated with both free and paid DLC. In a posting on the official Battlefront website, DICE has started teasing the new content coming to the shooter this spring and summer.
As for free content, gamers will be treated pretty well. The biggest thing teased by DICE is a new offline gameplay mode. While it is doubtful this is a fully fledged single-player campaign, it could mean a second offline mode to go alongside Survival.
There will also be the continuation of in-game events like double XP weekends and community missions. Players will also be able to continue completing Hutt Contracts to unlock new Star Cards and weapons. Lastly, DICE has confirmed something cool will be happening on May 4th (Star Wars Day), but didn’t go into any specifics.
As for the paid content, the next major Expansion pack coming is the Bespin DLC. This add-on will take players to the famous Cloud City seen in The Empire Strikes Back. The DLC will add four new maps in and around Cloud City, including Fighter Squadron maps. There will also be a new game mode, but no details about this were given.
Also coming in the Bespin DLC are new weapons and Star Cards as well as two new Hero/Villain characters. The new hero coming in Bespin is, fittingly, Lando Calrissian. The Villain character is the bounty hunter Dengar. Do they really not have any good enemies in Star Wars to the point where we are getting Greedo and Dengar? Come on, DICE.
Speaking of Heroes, DICE confirmed there will be eight new characters released in the DLC. We know four already, with two more planned for the upcoming Death Star DLC and two coming in the yet-to-be-revealed fourth DLC expansion.
No release dates for the Bespin or Death Star DLC have been revealed yet. More information will be coming later, including the reveal of the fourth paid expansion pack.
