Marvel Comics dives further into the Star Wars universe to tell the history of the wise Jedi master Yoda. In STAR WARS #26, Luke Skywalker will discover Obi-Wan’s recovered journals where he’ll unwittingly learn about Yoda’s past.

STAR WARS writer Jason Aaron recently teased details about the upcoming issues during an interview with StarWars.com . Aaron was hesitant yet excited about exploring Yoda’s past, as it’s never really been done before. Little is known about Yoda, and that’s a lot of pressure to put on a writer.

"The other big challenge with Yoda, of course, is finding something that’s a challenge for him, right? Who can pose a threat to Yoda? I think we came up with an interesting answer to that question," Aaron said. "That’s part of the mystery of this story. There’s a very specific reason that this is going to be quite the challenge for Yoda. It’s not a matter of just him being the more powerful Jedi. It’s a bit trickier than that," Aaron explained.

However, the appeal of telling a story about Yoda during his younger days a Jedi was too good for Aaron to pass on. Aaron wanted to make sure he used the iconic character in a smart way, giving comic book fans something truly special in S TAR WARS #26.

"I was always trying to figure out a way for us to use Yoda," Aaron told StarWars.com. "We're a bit hamstrung in terms of the time period of our main story, because Yoda's chilling on Dagobah. So this was the only way we could kill all those birds with one stone – to do one story that connects Luke, Yoda, and Obi-Wan all at the same time, while still taking place in three different time periods."

Aaron wouldn’t say how “young” Yoda is in Obi-Wan’s findings, but he did tease to StarWars.com the character is the “Yoda we know.” Whatever Obi-Wan found must be good if Luke didn’t even realize it was about Yoda.

STAR WARS #26 will be released sometime in December. Read more about the Yoda issue on StarWars.com here .
