Here’s a big spoiler for Star Wars: Episode 8 The Last Jedi: there’s a bio-hexacrypt in it. This changes things forever. Or might, if we knew what a bio-hexacrypt is.
For now all we know is that a bio-hexacrypt is part of a particularly thorny line John Boyega struggled to deliver during filming of The Last Jedi. Director Rian Johnson gifted Boyega a custom Episode 8 poster featuring Boyega’s character Finn moaning in frustration at the tricky word, emblazoned in Star Wars-style block lettering right below him.
Here’s Boyega with the frustrated Finn poster:
Not much concrete is yet known about the plot of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but rumors lead us to believe that Finn will have a very different journey than Rey, who will be busy training with Luke Skywalker on Ahch-To. One particular rumor places Finn aboard a Super Star Destroyer, where Tom Hardy smacks his ass. Yes, this is where we’re at with The Last Jedi rumors, until Lucasfilm finally unveils some footage.
A bio-hexacrypt, huh? Breaking it down gives us something like “life-sixtomb,” which may not be revealing, but is certainly evocative. Could part of Star Wars: The Last Jedi involve Finn resurrecting a dead character? Or — and this is my genuine best guess — might the First Order have some biological material from, say, a Sith Lord they have a confirmed obsession with?
We’ll find out Dec. 15, when Star Wars: Episode 8 The Last Jedi is out in theaters.
