Star Wars fans were a dealt a minor blow when it was announced that Episode VIII was being pushed back several months to December 2017. That may actually end up being a good thing , but in the meantime, we’ll still need to satisfy our Star Wars fix somehow. For that, attention turns to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story , the next installment in the galaxy far, far away. There is a bit of a catch, however, as Rogue One will actually take place in previously charted territory, albeit with a bit of a twist.
Rogue One will take us back to the days of the original Death Star, in between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Instead of focusing on the Skywalker saga, the spin-off “anthology” film will center around a band of rebel spies in search of the Death Star blueprints. Director Gareth Edwards has gone on record saying Rogue One will play out more like a “heist film” which has moviegoers both excited and confused as to what exactly that means. Not much info regarding the characters has been leaked, but perhaps a peek at their costumes can reveal the nature of Rogue One.
Making Star Wars has posted a few tweets from the London Toy Fair, which is currently in progress. The attire looks pretty legitimate, especially with the Rogue One logo in the background. Even more importantly, they seem to confirm Edwards’ comments about the genre of this latest Star Wars film. Gone are the Jedi robes, in are the soldiers uniforms. Take a look at the Star Wars: Rogue One costumes for yourself and decide if they’re real:

Hopefully we’ll get to know the characters wearing these costumes soon enough. In the meantime, take solace in knowing that one of the most infamous characters in cinema history - Darth Vader - will almost certainly make an appearance in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. And not only will he be in the film, but he’ll play a pretty significant role in it as well.
As iDigitalTimes’ own Andrew Whalen wrote earlier today , Darth Vader will don numerous suits of armor designed specifically for Rogue One. Stunt suits have been constructed as well, indicating that the Sith lord will likely take part in multiple action scenes throughout the film. His presence makes perfect sense considering Lord Vader was at the height of his power during this crucial period of galactic history.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set to arrive in theaters on Dec.16, 2016.
