Stray, the adventure game where you play as a cat, is finally released. The game went live a couple of hours ago on PS4, PS5, and PC. You can purchase the title for only $26.99; PC players can purchase the game on Steam.
There is good news for PlayStation owners. Subscribers of Extra, Deluxe, and Premium tiers of PlayStation Plus can play the entire game for no additional costs. However, they won’t be able to play the title after their subscription runs out.
About the Game
Stray takes place in a world populated by humanoid-looking machines and robots; the game isn’t an open-world title. However, it does feature open-world elements. You play the game in a third-person view where you control a cat.
The world is obviously inspired by a cyberpunk-like setting. There is a heavy focus on puzzles, art, and exploration. Don’t worry, the game also features a combat system. The player will be accompanied by B12, a drone assisting you throughout your journey in different ways.
The game was properly revealed in June 2020 during a PlayStation event. But it suffered from multiple delays. The final release date of July 19 was confirmed during June’s State of Play.
Game’s Development
Stray is developed by BlueTwelve Studio and published by Annapurna Interactive. The development of the game began in 2015 by Koola and Viv, the founders of BlueTwelve. It uses Unreal Engine 4.
Reviews
The game has received a positive reception from many publications. It is currently sitting at 84 Metascore from critics. We don’t know how the fan’s reception will be but from what we have seen, things are looking good.
Other Indie-Games
Stray isn’t the only interesting indie game exclusive to PlayStation. You can also check out Kena: A Bridge of Spirits. Another interesting title, Little Devil Inside, will launch on PS and PC sometime in 2022. The latter of the games is also being published by Annapurna Interactive
