Street Fighter V has 13 confirmed characters already, including both veteran and new fighters. But a new data mining of the recent Beta has revealed a few more characters will be included in the latest game’s roster.
In the data mining of the Street Fighter V code, courtesy of NeoGaf, show that there are at least three new characters coming to the roster. And one of those characters seems to be a fan-favorite. Dhalsim seems to be included in the Street Fighter V code along with two new characters.
Here’s the screenshot of the Street Fighter V beta code with the listing of fighters below:
RYU - RYU
CNL - CHUN-LI
NSH - NASH
VEG - VEGA
BLR - BISON
BRD - BIRDIE
FAN - NEW CHARACTER
CMY - CAMMY
DSM - DHALSIM
LAR - LAURA
KEN - KEN
KRN - KARIN
NCL - NECALLI
RMK - R.MIKA
RSD - RASHID
TUT - NEW CHARACTER
ZGF - ZANGIEF
Now, the original poster of the code has explained that this confirms the three characters because “...the found strings indicate that these characters have story illustrations. Think Tekken intros/epilogues. They wouldn't use that for stage characters.”
And speaking of stage/background characters, the Street Fighter V code has Alex and Ibuki as background characters. “My list is straight from the executable. The SIM/BLR disassembly shares the same base class as RYU/KEN/.. .These are playable roster characters.”
The original poster on NeoGaf also posts some more screenshots of what the Street Fighter V code has, which includes Urien, Alex, Guile, Dhalsim and confirms FAN to be a character. The poster points out that FAN has a lot of rigging meaning there could be a lot of tentacles so this character could be a boss.
Ibuki and Juri were also found but with a lot of rigging so that makes them more than just background characters. The poster states that their code is in the same folder structure as playable characters...but it should be noted that Nadeshiko, who is R. Mika’s V-Trigger is also in this folder.
So it’s hard to know who is playable and who isn’t but these leaked Street Fighter V codes could mean that DLC is coming to Street Fighter V.
Street Fighter V is set to release in Spring 2016.
