The Nov. 2 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump was supposed to have a huge announcement regarding the popular manga series, My Hero Academia. Many, including us here at iDigitalTimes, believe it’s going to announce the anime adaptation will be coming to Japan and eventually North America.
But while the Nov. 2 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump has yet to release, the official My Hero Academia manga Twitter account tweeted out the announcement a week early indicating that the anime adaptation has been green-lit.
The tweet in question has since been taken down but like most things on the Internet, once posted it’s there forever and the below screenshot -- via Anime News Network -- of the tweet confirms the My Hero Academia anime.
UPDATE: We received word from a Viz Media representative that gave us the following: "We cannot comment on any properties that haven't been officially announced by VIZ....no news has been released by any US distributor on plans for the anime series. These things are often delicately negotiated so nothing can be commented on at this time."
Of course, to get official word about the My Hero Academia anime we will have to wait for the Nov. 2 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump to drop for any release dates and other information regarding the anime adaptation.
With the My Hero Academia anime pretty much confirmed, when can fans see it in North America? Viz Media distributes the manga with the first volume releasing in August and the manga currently in Weekly Shonen Jump.
Viz Media also has simulcasted anime with the Japanese air time, like with One-Punch Man and it’s possible that they will do the same with My Hero Academia whenever the release date is confirmed by Weekly Shonen Jump.
We have reached out to Viz Media for comment regarding the My Hero Academia anime confirmation and whether they will simulcast the anime. We will update when we receive a response.
But we want to know what you think, is the My Hero Academia anime a done deal? When do you think it will release? Sound off in the comments section below.
