While die-hard fans may not have taken to Star Wars Battlefront as much as they would have liked, clearly there are people enjoying the rebooted shooter. EA has revealed that over 12 million copies of Star Wars Battlefront have already been sold, and more cool things are coming.
Thanks to an article in Fortune, analysts are suggesting that 12-13 million copies of Star Wars Battlefront have already been sold. Granted, thanks to Black Friday sales and other discounts, many of these copies were not purchased at full value. Regardless of the sales, Michael Pachter still estimates that Battlefront has raked in around $660 million alone. Pachter is an analyst at Wedbush Securities.
This lines up very well with EA's estimates for the game. Peter Moore, EA's COO, mentioned last year that Star Wars Battlefront was predicted to sell 13 million copies before March, and that seems like a New Year's Resolution that will actually get completed.
As for new things coming to Star Wars Battlefront, developer DICE has some vague, but positive, news. According to a post on the Battlefront website, Executive Vice President of EA, Patrick Söderlund, said there will be more free content coming after the Battle of Jakku DLC has been released.
"Of course, we are also planning to support Star Wars Battlefront with new content well into the future," Söderlund said. "We will be adding more of what you love about the game, like new maps and Star Cards, for free in the coming months, in addition to all of the content we have coming with Season Pass. We’ll have more to share soon."
