A new Dark Souls 3 trailer debuted on Monday, finally giving fans a new reason to talk about the game after its surprising absence from PAX South 2016, and our latest glimpse of Dark Souls 3 is pretty much everything a Dark Souls lore junkie could ask for.
The new trailer, called “To The Kingdom Of Lothric”, is apparently the introductory cinematic for Dark Souls 3. If true, we’d be a bit shocked if a longer version didn’t appear on the DS3 disc. But the trailer absolutely sets the tone for what looks to be the most dismal Dark Souls release yet; with ash, fog and ominously dark clouds blotting out whatever sun once shone on Lothric. The clip introduces a handful of characters from the game, some of whom have appeared in previous Dark Souls 3 trailers, but is also filled with all of the mystery and suspense we’d expect from a Dark Souls cinematic.
It’s the kind of thing we fully expect reddit to begin dissecting piece by piece, looking for any sort of new information on the world and characters FromSoftware plans to introduce in Dark Souls 3. But, for now, those of us who only have time for a new trailer will have to settle for handful of names, a creepy castle looming in the background and the promise of new Dark Souls content in just a few months time.
If you haven’t yet, and you aren’t going out of your way to avoid DS3 spoilers, we absolutely recommend taking a few minutes to check out the new cinematic trailer for Dark Souls 3. Then head down to the comments section and let us know what has you most excited for the Dark Souls 3 release date.
Dark Souls 3 is being developed for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The game is scheduled to debut April 12.
