Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has been on store shelves for more than a week, giving fans of Zombies mode an opportunity to dig into the first of several planned maps being released for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. Naturally, given the cooperative nature of Zombies mode, the community has come up with more than a few strategies for finding success in Shadows of Evil. And we've got a couple suggestions of our own.
To be clear, these probably aren't going to be groundbreaking revelations for experienced Zombies players. While some of these tips will likely come in handy, regardless of your current experience level, I'll openly admit that I'm still relatively new to Zombies mode myself. So don't expect this to be the list of tricks that put you at the top of the Zombies mode leaderboards. But anyone struggling to survive the first few waves of undead might just find something useful on our list of Black Ops 3 Zombies tips.
Repair Barricades For Extra Points...
Sure, putting up two-by-four's that you know zombies are about to tear down might seem like a slight waste of time. Especially when you're holding a revolver, submachine gun or similarly-capable firearm that could deal with said zombies much easier. But it's important to remember two things. First, you can't aim your gun in every direction at once. Second, repairing those barricades is a valuable source of points during the first few waves of a Zombies game.
...And Watch Your Back While You Do
We're not sure if this is a bug or a feature. For now, whenever you hold Square/X to start repairing a destroyed barricade, you should be able to use the right analog stick to turn the camera so it's facing behind you. As long as you don't let go of Square/X, the barricades should continue to repair and you'll be able to keep an eye out for any pesky zombies who might come for you. Dealing with said zombies will still mean halting work on the barricade. But at least a hit marker isn't your first warning anymore.
Collect Power-Ups At The End Of Each Wave
Once you get past the first couple of waves, the undead hordes in Shadows of Evil can get overwhelming pretty quickly. Spend the first few minutes of each wave near your allies, providing cross/cover fire as needed, and racking up as many points as you can. Eventually, the action will begin to slow down a bit. Before your team sets to work hunting down the last few zombies from the current wave, take a minute to stock up on weapons, Gobble Gum and other buffs. Then mop up the stragglers.
Leave Someone Outside The Room During Rituals
Once again, we're not sure if this one is a bug or a feature. But we're happy to take advantage of the situation either way. As many of you have likely noticed, starting the summoning leaves players trapped in the room where the ceremony is taking place, forced to contend with the army of demons that spawn from nearby portals. But those magical barriers keeping players from entering/exiting the room don't stop bullets. They also don't keep you from reviving your allies. So plan accordingly.
Beast Mode Has Its Drawbacks
Transforming into the Beast can have its advantages. The creature can traverse the map much faster than human characters, revive fallen allies a bit a faster, and the undead hordes flooding into Shadows of Evil don't stand much of a chance against its attacks. But many players don't realize their character's human body is still susceptible to damage while playing as the Beast. So, next time you're planning to take control of the creature, make sure someone(s) else on the team is available to guard your body.
Gobble Gum Exploit Gives 2-For-1 Pack-A-Punch Upgrades
This tip comes courtesy of reddit user StarmanT10, who published a corresponding video (embedded above) to this YouTube channel. To take advantage of this particular tip, Zombies players will need the Ephemeral Enhancement Gobble Gum in their active set and a few thousand points in the bank. Once you've got a gun you'd like to upgrade, buy Gobble Gum until you get Ephemeral Enhancement. Then bank at least 2500 points and then track down a Pack-a-Punch station on the map. Once you've located the station, use the gum. Your gun should become a Stage-1 PaP firearm. Now put the gun into the Pack-a-Punch machine. If you do everything right, you should now have two PaP firearms.
