While promoting a CGI movie that probably takes “The Hero with a Thousand Faces” way too seriously George Lucas finally confirmed what we’ve suspected all along: Disney pretty much ignored his ideas for “Star Wars 7.” While some Lucas comments earlier in the month revealed that George Lucas had planned out a “Star Wars” sequel trilogy, with the intention of shooting the “Star Wars: Episode 7” himself before passing the torch, whether or not Disney took his “Star Wars” ideas into consideration remained an open question.

In a clarification that should have “Star Wars” fans everywhere breaking out in choruses of “Yub Nub” it now seems clear that “Star Wars: Episode 7 The Force Awakens” does not contain any element of George Lucas’ “Star Wars 7” treatment. Check out the historic “Star Wars” interview question that finally clears the way for unadulterated “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” excitement in the holocron hearts of “Star Wars” fans everywhere:

"Star Wars 7" Interview Question for George Lucas

Here’s the relevant portion of George Lucas’ complete “Star Wars” capitulation:

“Well, the ones that I sold to Disney and everything, they came up to the decision that they didn’t really want to do those. So they made up their own. So it’s not the ones I originally wrote.”

Previous timelines for the development of “Star Wars: Episode 7 The Force Awakens” had George Lucas outlining “Star Wars 7” in the lead-up to the sale of Lucasfilm to Disney. The Lucas “Star Wars 7” treatment was part of the sale, and Disney hired Michael Arndt (“Toy Story 3”) to develop the Lucas “Star Wars” sequel outline into a script. It was previously unclear how much of this early work ended up in the J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan’sStar Wars: Episode 7 The Force Awakens” screenplay.

Now we know. When J.J. Abrams became attached to direct “Star Wars: Episode 7 The Force Awakens” he threw the George Lucas material right out the window.

Hurrah for J.J. Abrams.

“Star Wars: Episode 7 The Force Awakens” will be in theaters on Dec. 18. Yub Nub, indeed.
