As world awaits what Nintendo has to share about the Switch 2, a former Nintendo employee now claims that the new console will be released earlier than expected. As far as speculations go, the Switch 2 may have a potential fall 2025 release, but the ex-employee believes that fans need not wait this long for its arrival.

All eyes have been on Nintendo since its first trailer drop for the Switch 2 last January, with the company ushering in a massive change for its renowned hybrid console that has been long overdue.

Ex-Nintendo Employee Claims Switch 2 Will Release Earlier

The "Kit & Krysta Podcast" recently featured an ex-Nintendo employee as their special guest, and this former staffer revealed that he believes that the company is targeting an earlier release date for the Switch 2.

The employee in question, who identified himself as "Sean," claims that the company will not wait for the Switch 2 to be released later in the year.

Sean also said that he believes that the company is targeting a summer 2025 release date for the successor console, which comes after Nintendo's Direct event that is slated for spring.

Furthermore, the leaker believes that Nintendo want to be the "talk of summer 2025" among kids who will have their free time once their school year ends. Nintendo is allegedly targeting this period so that it will give the younger audience a chance to purchase the console and experience what it has to offer.

However, these claims are not official as Nintendo has yet to share any official information regarding the release date of the Switch 2 (via ComicBook Gaming).

Switch 2 Release Date: Console Is Coming This Year

Throughout the conversation, Sean revealed that he believes that Nintendo is specifically targeting the month of June to be the month when the Switch 2 would be available to purchase. Despite this, the ex-Nintendo employee still has no specific numbers on how much the Big Red will price its console. The rumored price is around $350 to $400.

Previous speculations said that while the Switch 2 may be revealed this April, Nintendo will only come around to release the console for purchase by late 2025, but some expected it to be available by as far as early 2026.

That being said, there are still no announcements regarding its first and third-party games, but that will not be a problem as Nintendo previously confirmed that the Switch 2 features backward compatibility for older Switch games.

Moreover, its availability will also not be a problem as previous speculations and industry forecasts claim that Nintendo has readied itself for the Switch 2's supplies and is expected to sell as many as 20 million consoles in its first year of availability.

For now, there is still no official word on when the Switch 2 will be available to buy from the company or via third-party retailers, with this information to be shared by Nintendo for its scheduled April Direct event.
