Following rumblings and rumors online of a supposed re-release of one of the most underrated tactics titles on PlayStation, it appears that Tactics Ogre: Reborn is all but confirmed after a listing appears on a third-party site tracking various PlayStation deals. Tactics Ogre: Reborn is apparently a remake of the 2010 PlayStation Portable title Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, with a tentative release date of November 11. The listing provided a closer look at Tactics Ogre: Reborn before its launch on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, including descriptions and first screenshots.
Tactics Ogre: Reborn, according to the description, is based on the original 2010 release with some changes made here and there to its gameplay, sound, and graphics. Below are some of the features, both new and old, expected to come with Tactics Ogre: Reborn:
- Multiple narrative paths and endings, with various choices made throughout the game affecting how it ends.
- Completely revamped AI that enables enemies to adapt their tactics to the situation.
- Changed from a class-wide level management system to a unit-by-unit level system, allowing players to theorycraft their way through endless combinations of classes, equipment, skills, and magic.
- Various quality-of-life improvements, including quicker battle pace, auto-save, and overhaul of UI and controls.
- High-definition recreation of the characters and backgrounds of the original Tactics Ogre from 1995.
- Fully voiced cutscenes in both Japanese and English, and re-recorded music with live performances.
- New World Tarot system allows players to travel back to a certain choice they have made earlier in the game to see how that specific path will branch out.
- New Chariot Tarot system allows players to travel back up to a certain number of moves during combat to redo their choices.
- Various endgame content such as the 100-level Palace of the Dead.
With a detailed description already in tow and store listing already data-mined, all that’s left is for an official announcement from Square Enix and the release date of Tactics Ogre: Reborn on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. It’s also not yet known if the game will be launched outside PlayStation, something which we’re sure to learn once Square Enix finally acknowledges the title.
