Bungie has officially unveiled the first-look trailer of its renowned classic first-person shooter (FPS), "Marathon," which introduced a new kind of action. The new game is bringing forth a new experience for users, deviating from the "Destiny 2" free-to-play FPS that the company has been developing for around seven years now.
In this new title, Bungie is taking users to a dystopian world led by cybernetics and futuristic technology, with players competing in teams of three against other teams.
'Marathon's' First Look Trailer Is Here From Bungie
Another FPS game is on the way from Bungie, and it completely detaches from its renowned action-shooter franchise, "Destiny," but still offers an online PvP experience. "Marathon" is finally revealed after two years since Bungie announced the return of the iconic and classic first-person shooter game from almost 30 years ago.
In a showcase over the weekend, Bungie has given the world a first look at what "Marathon" is all about, and its trailer introduces the world to a whole new experience in the lost colony of Tau Ceti IV.
Bungie has detailed the many experiences coming to "Marathon" later this year, providing insights as to how the experience will deliver a new dive into a sci-fi dystopian setting.
The main focus of "Marathon" is for players to compete in a single match as "Runners" against other teams and security forces in the game, with their goal to outlast their competitors and take home the loot waiting to be scavenged.
These items will be essential to continue their operations in Tau Ceti IV and fight against more menacing opponents.
The game's cinematic trailer shares glimpse into the experience. You can watch it below.
Upcoming Reboot of Shooter Coming This Fall
Bungie has announced "Marathon" back in 2023, with the company revealing that its classic FPS that was originally launched in the Mac platform is making its way to modern platforms.
Alongside the trailers from Bungie, the developers have also confirmed that "Marathon" is releasing on September 23.
What to Expect from Bungie's 'Marathon'
In the gameplay reveal showcase from Bungie, the company announced that the game will open up its Closed Alpha Test from April 23 to May 4, and this will allow select gamers to join the experience early on. That being said, bigger testing programs for "Marathon" are also expected to arrive later in the year, leading up to its release this fall.
According to Bungie, "Marathon" will be a multi-platform release where players may enjoy it on the PC via Steam, the PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series X and S. The company also shared that players may enjoy cross-play experiences, and the game will also feature cross-save.
