While Ubisoft’s fondness for shoving microtransactionseverywhere, even in their single-player games, has been a source of disquiet for many players now, one thing has become undeniable: their willingness to keep adding content to their games, even years down the road.
That is just what is happening now to Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, a game getting updated this weekend with a new mission pack. The game was initially released back in 2017, and two years has passed since, meaning that we probably shouldn’t be seeing any newer content for it. Looks like we’re wrong though, and now we have two brand new missions collected in Operation Oracle.
The game also has a very special guest: Major Cole D. Walker, played by none other than Jon Bernthal. I don’t watch The Walking Dead, but I was an avid fan of The Punisher series in which Jon Bernthal plays Frank Castle, a brutal vigilante also known as The Punisher. Here’s hoping he will be as badass as he was in that role and translate it to a ruthless Ghost operative in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands.
To play this exclusive mission pack, you should have already completed the very first mission of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. It will then be automatically tracked and equipped. The start of the operation itself will be found in the province of Montuyoc, marked by a symbol on your TacMap.
Completing Operation Oracle grants your Ghost two unique rewards which you can use in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands.
- Executioner CQC Finisher – Equip this all-new bracelet in your loadout to unlock a brutal new CQC finisher.
- Walker Tattoo – Get Major Cole Walker’s tattoo for your Ghost as a free custom item.
Ubisoft has also announced an upcoming Walker Costume for the Ubisoft Club on Uplay. This reward will be made available at a later date, so be sure to check in at Ghost Recon’s official site to learn more.
That’s not the end of good news though. Last week saw The Crew 2 host a free weekend for its Hot Shots update, so its only fair that Ubisoft makes Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands free to play over this weekend too! From May 2 to May 5, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands will be available to download for free on Uplay, so if you have never tried one of the best open-world tactical shooters of 2017, now’s your chance to do so.
The Operation Oracle update for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is expected to drop some time today, May 2. The game is free to play starting today and over the weekend, and is available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
