Seven years after its initial release for the PC, the dungeon crawling ARPG Torchlight II will finally make its way to consoles. This release isn’t just any release, though, as it comes with several pre-order bonuses that should give some players on PC a reason to double-dip and get it again.
The release date has been announced some time ago, with Torchlight II making its way to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch on September 13. These pre-order bonuses were announced by publisher Perfect World Entertainment yesterday, released alongside a new trailer featuring the Berserker, which you can view below.
This brings me back. I can’t believe it’s been seven years since Torchlight II was released, which is one of my most played games back when I was in college. This was the game that sustained me after I played Diablo 2 to death, and with good reason – it’s an absolutely great game with peer-to-peer multiplayer, which was a welcome feature in the dorm I was staying in.
You can play Torchlight II with up to three other players. Each of your characters is fully customizable with four distinct classes to choose from: the Engineer, which is a heavy-set class armed with two handed weapons; the Berserker, which is brutal and swift warrior armed with claws and knuckles; the Embermage, an elemental mage versed in using staves; and the Outlander, a gunner who wields arms and magic with equal skill.
The world of Torchlight II showcases an expansive, semi-open world, featuring a lot of dungeons and secrets in between. It also features a day and night cycle, as well as dynamic weather systems, which makes the game feel more alive. You also have pets, which are very useful as they can aid you in your journey.
Pre-ordering is now available on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One storefronts, while the Switch version will be available at a later date. Pre-ordering will net you two exclusive pets:
- The Yapper, which will be featured in the upcoming Torchlight Frontiers MMO, will be given to those who pre-order across all platforms.
- The Faerie is exclusive to PlayStation 4 owners.
- The Molten Imp is exclusive to all Xbox One owners
- An exclusive pet for the Switch has yet to be announced.
Torchlight II will be released on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch on September 13.
