After a seven-year wait, console gamers can finally rejoice! Torchlight II, one of the most celebrated action RPGs of the decade, is finally coming to all major gaming consoles. Come September 3, 2019, Torchlight II will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
When it launched on PC back in 2012, Torchlight II quickly became one of the most popular action RPG titles in the industry. Especially with Diablo III's community backlash regarding forced online play and no local area network play, many people enjoyed Torchlight II's more traditional approach. Torchlight II went where Diablo III refused to go - LAN parties - and the gaming community fell in love with it.
Torchlight II is an action RPG developed by Runic Games, and is similar in a lot of ways to the Diablo franchise. With tons of random encounters, powerful enemies, satisfying abilities, and endless amounts of loot of varying rarity, utility, and power, Torchlight II is more than just a Diablo clone. While it does offer plenty of the same gameplay, Torchlight II manages to bring all-new and unique game experiences to all kinds of players.
With last year's BlizzCon 2018 turning out the way it did - nothing about Diablo IV or anything new for PC - a lot of the hardcore hack and slash RPG fans were disappointed and left feeling bummed out, to say the least. Now, console players can enjoy the action RPG franchise that Diablo II players enjoyed when they waited for the release of Diablo III. Torchlight II takes players on an action-packed journey with unique storytelling, intense combat, and a variety of builds, abilities, and equipment for players to explore and experiment with as they pursue strength and victory. Diablo IV may still be quite a way's away, and Diablo Immortal may not satisfy your gaming needs (even though everyone has a phone, right?), but with Torchlight II now on consoles, the community has another option.
What do you think about Runic Games' decision to finally bring Torchlight II to modern gaming consoles? Will you be grabbing Torchlight II on Xbox, PS4, or the Nintendo Switch? Or will you continue to play it on PC, if you've played it on PC? Let us know what you think in the comments section below!
