Side-scrolling puzzler franchise Trine will be available for the Nintendo Switch for the first time this coming fall. This is following the announcement of publisher Modus Games and developer Frozenbyte in March that Trine: Ultimate Collection will be released around the same time for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC.
The Trine: Ultimate Collection includes all of the games in the series, including the still to be released Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince, which would be the fourth instalment in the series of action platforming games.
The Trine series originally began with Amadeus the Wizard, Pontius the Knight, and Zoya the Thief on their journey across a destroyed and forsaken kingdom. These three unlikely heroes are bound to each other through a mysterious artifact: the titular Trine. Using powers unique to them and bestowed to them by this mysterious artifact, the heroes navigate through perilous environments and challenging puzzles and quests. Understanding and controlling the power provided to them by the Trine is the main theme of the first three games. Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince follows the three heroes’ journey to locate Prince Selius, a young noble plagued with dark and intense dreams involving monstrous creatures. Combined with his magical talents, these dreams have materialized in the real world to wreak havoc. It is up to the three to save the world from the Nightmare Prince’s monsters.
The acclaimed trilogy (soon to be quadrilogy) boasts rewarding exploration game play, role-playing game elements such as customizing character skills and abilities, and dynamic real-time combat by utilizing the game’s three main characters and their connections through the Trine.
Trine: Ultimate Collection includes Trine Enchanted Edition, Trine 2: Complete Story, Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power, and the upcoming Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince. It will be made available both physically and digitally for $49.99. Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince, on the other hand, will be available physically and digitally for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC for $29.99.
