After its initial launch for the PC in August of last year, Two Point Studios’ hit simulation title Two Point Hospital will now be making its way to consoles, both physically and digitally, sometime later this year. This announcement comes straight from the developer’s blog post.
This port also comes with both the Bigfoot and Pebberley Island expansions, as well as a ton of free updates that were all made during its initial run on the PC. Each expansion comes loaded with additional episodes for the game, and the console versions of Two Point Hospital are expected to come with a total of 21 hospitals and 119 illnesses. Two Point Studios also released a console trailer for the game, which you can view below.
If you’re looking for something akin to Theme Hospital back in the day, then Two Point Hospital is probably the closest you’re going to get. Plus, it’s got better presentation thanks to the modern graphics, amazing art design, and humorous content. To put it bluntly, Two Point Hospital is a management sim that doesn’t take itself too seriously for casual players, but still has plenty of challenges for people who can get pretty invested in the genre.
According to the blog post, this console release will also see a redesign of the controls to better pair with the use of a controller, which results in “an intuitive, quick, and precise control scheme” built from the ground up to “make building your hospitals more satisfying than ever.” As for the question of why the game is making the console jump now, it seems that the developers really wanted a console version from the start, and given the success of Two Point Hospital on Steam (97% positive reception), now seems a good time as any to let players experience the game from the comfort of their couch or during their travels outside.
The Bigfoot expansion includes a new wintery region featuring three new hospitals and 34 region-specific illnesses. The Pebberley Island expansion, on the other hand, places you on a tropical island as you search with an explorer for a fabled source of death-defying water.
Two Point Hospital will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch sometime later this year. The game is now available on Steam.
